I had our son at the JR delivery suite in April. He was induced due to premature rupture of the membranes. During the 10 or so hours on the drip before labour started properly we saw a number of midwives, all of whom were caring, professional and keen to explain what was happening and why. At evening shift change the overnight midwife who was to deliver our baby took over. We knew at once that we were in good hands, and they would look after us well. Having wanted a natural water birth in the midwife led unit, we ended up with an assisted delivery on the delivery suite - something that I found extremely daunting. Thankfully our midwife, the obstetrician and the rest of the team were thoughtful, informative and made me feel as comfortable as possible throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend that friends of mine go to the JR to have their babies! After delivery we spent 2 nights in the JR. All the ward staff were friendly and supportive. The ward was so full that we were in an overflow room, but we could not fault the care that we recieved, despite the extra burden the staff were dealing with. Food was good - basic but hot and filling. Facilities are a bit dated, but the staff more than make up for it! Thank you!
"Excellent staff"
