What I liked
The dedication of the nurses and how hard they worked in difficult conditions and patient numbers.
What could be improved
Cleanliness of the wards and especially the shared gender patient toilets and showers etc, filthy to put it politely. Routine checks should be carried out. The lack of availability and communication from the doctors. The use of mixed gender wards is outdated and is especially stressful for older patients with different moral codes.
Anything else?
My 82 year old mother has been a frequent in patient and dislikes the hospital intensely. So much so that 3 weeks ago she refused to be admitted to PDH, this decision nearly cost her life. I hope the ethos and culture is not carried across to the new General hospital now under construction.
