"Post natal care still needs improvement"

After a poor experience following the birth of my eldest son, I was hoping the post natal experience would have improved for number two. Sadly it hadn't. I arrived in bed at 3am with my new baby. At 7 ish I was informed that I could get breakfast from the kitchen. My little baby cried every time I put him down so I carried him to the kitchen with me. There was no one to help in the kitchen so I had to attempt to make my breakfast while carrying my newborn baby and with a cannula still in my hand. The food available was appalling. White bread rolls. Pots of jam. Butter. Fruit juice. Not what you need after a long labour and very little food for 36 hours. It took a while but eventually I assembled a tray and somehow managed to get everything back to my bed safely. Really unimpressed. Although I was dressed and ready to go from 9am I wasn't discharged until mid afternoon. I wouldn't mind but there seemed to be no concerns and me and the baby required no treatment. We barely saw a nurse all day. Meanwhile the lady next to me had a catheter bag which burst all over the floor under the beds as she was not being attended to by nurses regularly enough. Giving birth is a traumatic experience. New mums deserve better. This is no start to motherhood.
