"Spine specialist"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Darenth vally does not have a spinal team they just say they contacted somebody at kings in London to find out what is wrong My wife has had a back problem for 20 years 5 weeks ago she had a MRI scan at side up to say she had two prolapsed disk and a fragment going in to L5 We live in Gravesend and was told that she needed surgery and the only place to go was Medway Hosiptal in Chatham as they have a spinal team At the weekend she was in so much pain she could not move and had not had a wee for over 12 hrs To cut a long story short they rescanned which showed that it was the same But some doctor turned up and said we phoned kings and they said everything was fine It felt like they did not have a clue what they were talking about my wife can not walk or can she feel her leg they have her on mophine & diazpam to try and help with the pain So you would think that they don't know what is going on move her to a surgeon who she is awaiting appointment for straight to the Medway No they send a JNr Doctor late lastnight and said she needs to see a neurosurgeon now when we asked some question they said I am just the messager I don't know anything about the spine My god why send a person who does not have a clue The nurses work very hard on cherry ward and they are on the go all the time But please darenth vally I thought you could at least send her to the Medway to help her Because if you just send her home where will she sleep or move on with her life , I feel very let down by your Hospital So beaware go to the Medway if it's your back that's the trouble I will be taking this further and if we find that my wife's back was not given the right care that she should have and let's face it our family's have paid for this service when it first started in 1948 I will be phoning one of them law firms that deal with doctors not knowing or have a clue and getting things wrong

Dear Capt. J Crane We are sorry that you feel let down by our hospital, this is truly not the perception we like to give. Please would you be kind enough to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALs) on 01322 428383 or email pals@dvh.nhs.uk in order that we can look into the issues you have raised. Kind regards The Communications Team Darent Valley Hospital
