"early antenatal care"

About: Barnsley Hospital

Following three early miscarriages and a diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome I asked if I will have a close eye kept on my pregnancy and maybe a reassurance scan at some stage. The response I got from the midwife was lighthearted and basically stated that 'we look after all our pregnant women'. Well I'm sorry but not all your pregnant women have the same history as me and wont spend the first 12 weeks absolutely terrified of miscarrying again. I never got offered an early reassurance scan and was left to be constantly worried until my 12 week scan, having zero pregnancy symptoms didn't help either. I think that any woman with a history of consecutive miscarriages and polycystic ovary syndrome should have at least one reassurance scan before 12 weeks. The fact that they don't is unacceptable.
