"Emergency Treatment"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

Unfortunately my husband & I had an accident after a clinic appointment. We alighted the escalator on the lst level to come down and my husband lost his footing knocking into me sending me & him down the escalator. An off duty staff nurse from the Freeman was first on scene and was fantastic, they kept us both calm until the crash team arrived and after some time they extracted us from the escalator the team was marvelous and very professional. We went to A&E where we were thoroughly checked over and pleased to say apart from being battered and bruised we had no broken bone.We are both pensioners and are most grateful to all the team for their care and attention. Please pass on our thanks to all concerned.

Thank you for taking the time to post your thanks on NHS Choices. The unfortunate accident that you had in the RVI was reported within the Trust and we are very pleased to hear that you are both recovering well from it. We are very sorry that this happened while you were with us for a clinic appointment and we are looking at any actions that we need to take around the use of the escalator to prevent such accidents in the future. We have passed your thanks onto all staff involved in your care who are very pleased to hear that you are both doing well.
