"Consistent high standard of response and care"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital / General surgery Royal Shrewsbury Hospital / Urology Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust

(as a relative),

crew arrived well within 10 minutes, probably nearer 5 and were thoroughly professional They agreed that in view of her past history my wife should be taken to hospital in Shrewsbury. After a few days in SAU she was allowed home, and all seemed to go well until around 1030pm on Tuesday18 June, when history repeated itself, though less severely than previously. I tried to speak to Shrewsbury, without success, and then tried the out of hours service, when I got "the number you have dialled has not been recognised", so I called 999.

Once again the ambulance arrived very quickly, not much more than 5 minutes, and again, it seemed best to take my wife to Shrewsury, where she was very well cared for initially by SAU, then by the Urology ward.

My wife is now back home and hopefully things will continue OK. My purpose in writing is to thank all the NHS staff for doing their jobs well and promptly.

Almost exactly a year ago I experienced a TIA (transient Iscemic attack) and subsequently a quadruple heart bypass, testing not just the response of the Welsh and English NHS, but the effectiveness of their integration to produce the best outcome for the patient, me on this occasion.

I feel that during the recent election, much negative press was given particularly to the Welsh Ambulance service, and the NHS in general for political purposes, so I am pleased to report a consistent high standard of response and care
