"Our sincere thanks to this wonderful caring set of people"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

In mid-June, my brother in law was admitted to the HASU following a severe stroke. His incapacity was virtually total.

Sadly he passed away yesterday. The family would like to pass on our sincere thanks to each and every one of the nursing staff in this unit. We have never experienced such a team of absolute professionalism from the doctors, sisters, staff nurses, nurses and all the way down to the tea makers.

My brother-in-law was shown absolute kindness, care and respect. Not once did we experience a blank response when asking about his condition. Everyone knew exactly what was going on. Communication was excellent and honesty in abundance.

On top of all this we as visitors were always greeted with a smiling face and when appropriate a bit of humour thrown in. Please pass on our sincere thanks to this wonderful caring set of people. Full marks.

Dear Gizmoroe

May I firstly extend my sincere condolences to you and your family on the sad loss of your brother in law.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments regarding all of the team on HASU, who do work very hard to promote and ensure a positive patient experience in often difficult circumstances., I am so pleased that you found the communication to your family was excellent, and that the care extended to your brother in law was given at all times with kindness and respect during his time on the HASU Unit.

I will forward your post to Joy Anderson Ward Manager for HASU, and to Helen Seymour Matron for Elderly Care who I know will be thrilled to read your feedback and will ensure that this is communicated to all of the team.

Once again thank you for taking the time out to provide us with your feedback at such a sad time and if we can be of any other assistance please contact Patient Services on 0121 424 0808 at any time.

With kind regards

Marie Helebert
