"Visitors to York"

My wife and I were staying in a cottage some 12 miles from York whilst on a weeks break. My wife was in October 2014 diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer and has been receiving treatment to lessen the effects of this horrendous condition. During the morning of Monday 15th June 2015 her condition was such that following advice from her Oncologist over the telephone I took her into the A&E department at York. Following the initial checking in we were seen very quickly & my wife moved to a cubical and seen by a doctor. After bloods were taken for testing the decision was taken to admit my wife, she ended up on ward 22. I was allowed to stay with her until 2130hrs on the Monday evening and I was back first thing the following morning as the treatment continued for a serious infection. My wife was discharged at about 1800hrs on the Tuesday evening. Throughout the stay I witnessed all of the staff working extremely hard. Nothing was too much for any of them, they are a credit to the Hospital. We would like to extend special thanks to one of the nurses on ward 22, who was a lovely person. My wife took a real shine to them and was very impressed with their bedside manner. There was another nurse who was working the afternoon shift who was fantastic..... We are now back home and my wife is continuing with her treatment. The outcome is never going to be good, but when we found ourselves in need of help whilst away from home your staff stepped up and were amazing. Thank you all......
