"Amazing care in the event of a nasty bike accident"

About: East Surrey Hospital

I was admitted via Accident and Emergency after a nasty fall from my bike directly on to my head that impacted right down my spine, causing a fractured vertebrate. From beginning to end the care was brilliant. I had a full MRI scan within a few hours of being admitted and was moved with real care, protecting my neck and spine. Throughout, I knew what was happening, meeting the key orthopaedic doctors the day before having a brace fitted. The staff on wards were friendly, helpful and treated me with real dignity rather than as a number. I was also very impressed with the ambulance service, including the paramedics and the heart (response team) that brought me and checked up on me, even after I was admitted. From admittance to release, within just over 48 hours the care was exemplary.

Dear Paul, It is always good to receive such positive feedback on a patients' experience whilst being cared for and treated by us. I will pass your comments on to our staff in the departments you mention, as well as our ambulance colleagues. I hope you are recovering well at home. With best wishes Cathy White Patient Experience Team
