"Attended a+e via ambulance with my 4 year old son"

I Attended a+e via ambulance with my 4 year old son after calling nhs111 for advice, after giving the call operator his symptoms they advised they would be sending an ambulance as he had some symptoms of meningitis. I said we had transport and could just take him down to the department ourselves but was told no. After being triarged by a lovely nurse we were seen by a Dr who asked us why we had called for an ambulance and why are we at a+e when my sons symptoms are that of a very high unresolved temperature? After telling the doctor we only called Nhs111 for advice and this was action they wanted to take we were concerned it was something more serious along the lines of meningitis. The Dr then sniggerd and said "well that's just the problem with the Nhs these days" having worked for the nhs for almost 9 years I am well aware of the struggles faced and was more then happy to go through the usual procedure ect but I followed the advice and help of a clinically/medically trained person. I felt like I was made to feel stupid and as if I had wasted their time. In a situation where you feel your child could be seriously ill a blasé approach and dismissive attitude is not appropriate nor is it fair.
