"Special measures?"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

I had an emergency admission on a Sunday via CDOC & the Penrith unit. Straight through A&E (no waiting,) to a waiting bed in Beech ward. Everything explained clearly, prompt attention by medical staff. All levels of staff were friendly, communicative and professional and I felt treated as a person rather than just a "patient" as well as being kept fully informed about what was going to happen. The ward was clean. Ok, so the food was " central kitchen" but it was fine. No-one wants to spend five days in hospital, but the staff made it as bearable as possible despite being short staffed at times. Thank you all on Beech Ward C&D for your care. I didn't experience anything in the clinical care received that said " special measures".

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at the Cumberland Infirmary. I am so pleased to hear you had no waiting in A&E and that there was a bed waiting for you. The staff have been working tremendously hard to improve the peoples' experience when they come to hospital. The staff will be delighted to hear you found them to be friendly and professional and in particular pleased about their level of communication. I shall pass your comments to the staff on Beech C&D and I am certain they will want to thank you for taking the trouble to let them know. I hope you continue to recover well.
