I recently attended two podiatry appointments in the Ayrshire area (the same podiatrist and location both times) and due to a very poor level of service I feel that someone needs to be made aware of this - it takes a lot for me to complain about poor service but feel very strongly about it.
On my first visit I felt that the level of service was ok but the manner and attitude towards me by the podiatrist was a little unusual, as though I was being given into trouble for the problems I was having with my feet.
On my second visit (which I had brought forward due to the level of pain I was experiencing), I felt that their manner was even more condescending and again felt as if I was being given into trouble. There were also a number of comments made which contradicted the information that I was given on my first visit.
When the podiatrist realised that I was getting a little emotional (because they were not listening to what I was saying) their attitude became slightly more positive, but it shouldn't have taken for me to become upset for them to change their attitude.
A couple of weeks later I contacted the podiatrist to ask if I could be referred for surgery as I could no longer take the pain in my feet and wanted to be referred to orthopaedics as soon as possible - their attitude stank and I have never felt so belittled by a health care professional before.
They agreed very reluctantly to refer me but again contradicted themselves from my first appointment. After this phone call I was extremely upset and comforted by a family member. They suggested I contact my GP to get some pain relief for my feet which I did that day. I know that podiatrists cannot do this but I finally felt that someone listed to me and appreciated how much pain I was in.
