In a south coast hospital, my father had a stent in his bowel to open it up when blocked by a tumour.
He was sent home shortly after returning to solid food with a low residue diet sheet. Mum followed it to the letter and got creative thanks to a Crohns cookbook. His rectal surgery was a complete success due to surgical skill AND clean bowel.
18 months later a twisted bowel has resulted in a illeostomy. He has needed fine tuning due to kidney damage so is an inpatient. First he had no meal choice guidance and after two sweetcorn near misses has been given the "bland diet no veg" advice by nursing staff. Where's the low residue signage like that for kosher/veg/nuts? Why no creative root veg options to change from mashed pot?
