What I liked
I spent 7 hours waiting for treatment on B26. The staff were for the most very pleasant and I have no complaint with them.
My complaint is with the ayatem that deems patients who have been in pain for a considerable period of time being deemed as second class to those who have broken bones.
I myself have beensuffering since an accident in September 2007. I was treated in September 2008, Yes that was a whole year later, unfortunately the painkilling injection onlu worked for 48hrs, back in September 2008.
I finally get a new appointment in May only to spend 7, yes SEVEN hours in a side ward, on my own, to be told that " I am sorry but you are cancelled". The reason? The x-ray machine in the next theatre was broken and they needed the one in which my consultant was working in order to set broken bones. Well I may be only a second class citizen in their eyes but I have been in pain for nearly 2 years and I feel that I have priority over someone who may have broken heir bones sometime in the last couple
of days. I am sure that there are many more people who feel the same and I hope they make their feelings felt also.
What could be improved
I sat in a room from approx 0830 until about 1358hrs without any contact with the staff. They should make more conatct with te patients.
I will be writing to the Chief Executive of Broomfield Hospital to formally complain about the lack of facilities and the deplorable treatment I received.
