"Specialist didn't have a clue"

About: Southmead Hospital

The specialist I saw didn't seem to know why I was there or why I'm not well and I'm not particularly inclined to come back.

Dear Anonymous – thank you for taking the time to post your comments about your Immunology appointment. I am sorry that you were not satisfied with the consultation. It is usual for patients to be asked for their details and why they are attending as part of the checks to ensure patient identity and the reason for the attendance are confirmed. It is expected that all consultations will have been prepared for clinic appointments, but the questions referred to above can sometimes be received as if the consultant was not prepared, however I apologise if this was not actually the case. I hope that should you need to attend for any further treatment or consultations, you will feel it appropriate to raise any concerns you have at the time and I am sure the clinician or nursing staff will be able to assuage your concerns. Kind regards – Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team.
