"the ward was nice and clean, bathroom ..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

the ward was nice and clean, bathroom and toilets clean at all times, good hygiene!

What could be improved

the communication between nurses and doctors needs to be severely improved! no one really knows what exactly is going on, leaving patients waiting and waiting for results or medication.

i was in a&e for 8 hours before being seen by a surgeon to tell me what was going on, even then she was in a foul mood and seemed like i was such an inconvenience for her.

when i was admitted into the ward i was administered IV antibiotics but wasnt told why?! i had to get out of bed and go and ask why on earth i was being put on antibiotics for... surely being the patient you should be told why you are being pumped with certain drugs??!? Severe lack of communication involved here!

After 3 days in hospital i was allowed home and told i would have my ultrasound scan as an outpatient, so i went home and later that evening was experiencing the same pain i was 3 days ago and got re-admitted back into the ward, the on-call consultant came round and told me i would have my ultrasound scan the following day to decide on a diagnosis, the following morning came round and another consultant came to see me and told me i could go home! no mention of the ultrasound scan! told me once again i would have it as an outpatient!?!?!? what is going on there, i followed what he said and went home the following day, still in pain i am now going privately rather then having to wait weeks on end for one. i am 19 years of age and cannot put my life on hold just because the NHS wont really take any notice of you unless your head has fallen off!
