The person that thought of this idea is so out of touch, how can they say it is a benefit to put the nearest A&E from my home in Faifley in the south side of Glasgow, they should understand that not all of the general public in the West of Scotland have a car, and they do not care about the time it takes to get their for yourself or to visit a friend. So it is a big thank you to NHS Scotland I MUST SAY.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. Good morning and thanks for getting in touch to share your thoughts on Patient Opinion.

You have spoken about the distance between your home and the new South Glasgow University Hospital, and in particular getting there by public transport. A brilliant resource for information on public transport is Traveline Scotland (www.travelinescotland.com or 0871 200 22 33). Traveline Scotland will create personalised journey planners for you from your home postcode, telling you the best routes to take for your journey.

We have worked closely with transport providers to increase the number of buses coming straight to the door of the new Hospitals which has improved things for people arriving by bus. I would encourage you to have a look at this website if you are planning on coming to the hospital for an appointment or to visit a friend.

We also have some information on our own website called 'Know Who to Turn To' which helps people to decide which service they need and how to access it. Again, you can put in your postcode and it will tell you where to go to get the care you need. For certain injuries or illnesses, this may not always be an A&E, but perhaps a Minor Inujries Unit or GP services. And please bear in mind that in an emergency situation, you would be brought into hospital by a blue light ambulance, with your care starting as soon as the paramedics reach you.
