Since being informed of the team of epilepsy nurses starting and being referred straight away we couldn't ask for a more supportive and caring service. My husband has had epilepsy since his teens and is now in his fifties. Over the years he has tried numerous drugs with various degrees of success or not. The nurse talked about VNS treatment with us and gave us a information pack so we could read up and do further research and discuss it and let them know our interest, we had never heard of it before. After then referring us to the John Radcliff for assessment and operation, our nurse has been with us every step of the way in supporting and keeping us informed of the process. So nice to have someone who is at the end of the phone, e-mail or home visits and hospital appointments is so reassuring. My husband felt like he was stuck in a rut with no way forward, this has now changed to a positive outlook, especially with our daughters wedding in two months time. Before we didn't know if he would be well enough to walk her down the aisle, or using a wheelchair. Now there's a possibility he will be able to achieve his wish , the nurse has know about the wedding and set it as a bar to aim for. This is a brilliant service that I would recommend to anyone, you are not a statistic or number you are treated as a person with dignity and individual needs. 5 out of 5.
