"Nice staff, but lack of after care service"

About: Chase Farm Hospital

I had a hernia operation on Thursday & stayed at the Day Surgery centre. Pros: 1)nurses & staff are very friendly , warm& helpful. Especially two nurses. Best staff ever. 2) doctors have very good skills & efficient. I think my operation went well. Cons: 1) the ward seriously needs some refurbishment. The building is so old & run down. 2) After operation care could be improved. So many patients like me still suffering from several pain after the operation & not ready to leave. Unfortunately, its their policy to ask every patient leave on the same day. 3) The pain killers are too weak. The painkillers given are just not strong enough & I have to take my own painkillers. 4) The doctors should give patients medication for constipation to take home as well. 5) If patients pick up infection after the operation, they have to see the GP instead. I don't blame the hospital as this is due to lack of funding of NHS. 6) Its cold in the ward as the windows were left opened. My tummy hurts as I picked up a small cold before the operation

Hi there, thank you very much for your comments and feedback. We will pass it on to the ward and to our patient experience team so that they can look into the issues that you raise. If you are able to give us more detail, we would be very grateful if you could email rf.communications@nhs.net so that we are able to investigate the specifics further.
