"husband told he want to come back on ward"

About: Wharfedale Hospital

I was at the hospotal, ward no 1 , 1st floor, for a minor operation, which was going to be dome , with general anaesthetic. My husband broughr me, and came in the ward with me, to support me, I was a bit anxious. He was told by one of the nurses, that he couldnt accompany me to the the theatre, and that he should leave asap, as I was going down to theatre, within 30 mins., When he left, I became anxious, and would have liked him to have been with me, up to been put to sleep. And i almost called the whole thing off. After i realised, that the partners, mothers of the other patients, had been allowed to stay, with their family. While my husband had been told to leave. And not come back onto the ward. the nurse took my dressing gown and footwear, prior tp my operation , back to the ward, they had wrapped my outdoor footwear, inside my dressing gown, this really was not hygienic.

Dear Lynda Holroyd,

Thank you for taking the time to post your views.

I was very sorry to read that you feel you had a poor experience whilst in our care, I understand that any operation is an extremely stressful time and I am very sorry that you feel we did not do all we could have to make this a more positive experience.

I have passed your post onto the relevant management so that they can address the issues you have raised; If you would like to discuss this in further detail you can do so by contacting the trusts Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 206 6261 or alternatively email patientexperience.leedsth@nhs.net.
