"X-Ray at dgh"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Took my 4 year old son this week to have an x-Ray at DGH at the request of our GP. On the plus side we were seen relatively quickly with an x-Ray referral so could skip having to go through A&E, but was left baffled as to why after he had x-Rays taken we were then told to contact our Gp for the results in 1-2 weeks time! Luckily for us our GP had warned us that this seemed to be what patients were being told now, and told us not to leave the hospital without results. This then meant we had to go through the A&E route (triage, nurse etc) to wait for results. What I cannot understand is why would someone with a suspected fracture have to wait for up to 2 weeks to be told if anything is broken or not? Yes - my son did have a fracture - good job I didn't take the advice of the radiologist and wait to see the GP for results. How many people are out there at the moment with broken bones without knowing as you seem to be unable to tell people on the day the results of an x-Ray? Surely if you have an x-Ray you need to know fairly soon the results???
