On 22nd of may 2015 taken to aintree hospital by ambulance with chest pain. I am 54 year male hgv driver who plays golf 3 times a week never had heart problems fit. On 24th of may transferred to broadgreen chest hospital on ventilator keeping me going. Now in hands of a Consultant and their team of doctors and nurses. Lost track of time scale awoke in ccu with bypass graph and mechanical valve one to one nursing care exceptional. Visited by my Consultant who joked with me and made me so relaxed as they then explained in normal peoples language no long medical terms. Concidering what i had been through they made me strangely feel at ease. When my wife and family came in and i commented to them about my Consultant my wife said that is the way the Consultant and all their team had been throughout keeping her informed of everything that was happeniing and why. I was moved to icu as i was being wheeled into ward i heard a senior nurse say to my wife thats not who i think it is my wifes reply it is the nurse with a big beaming smile then said to me well done you have done so well. Confused i asked my wife who the nurse was she informed me they were looking after me when i first arrived from aintree , their words when i was really poorly. Now that is not just someone doing there job that is someone that cares. It made me feel good. This theme carried on to a lesser extent throughout my stay but was always evident with 95% of the nursing staff in the wards i was transferred to as i got better the difference between a nurse doing there job and a nurse that cares are so evident and makes so much difference. So to finish off i would like to say to my Consultant and their team and to the 95% of nurses male and female thank you so much. Just a few negative points because your standards are so high when you use low standard agency staff irrispective of what grade they are they put extra pressure on your stars because they have to work harder to cover them.
