"The reception staff, nurses and ..."

About: Watford General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The reception staff, nurses and doctors were all so lovely, they worked together extremely well and truly care for their out-patients and regulars at the Sexual Health Clinic.

I have never had fault with the care I receive there, or have ever received there over the last 3 years.

What could be improved

My only fault to date has been that there is one doctor who does not speak English very well, and while this does not bother me usually, it is certainly an issue when visitors to the clinic are young and speak with thick "Watfordian slang" accents, which the doctor found difficult to understand. For example, I asked for a certain item that one receives free, but she did not understand what I was asking for. If I had pursued it, I'm sure it would have been fine but I was too embarrassed to point out her fault which was due to English being a second language. I didn't want to make her feel bad, which was silly, but there you go.

I also know that the clinic is short on space but the waiting room does get packed out and this needs to be rectified somehow. Perhaps an extension, if money ever permitted.

Anything else?

The clinic is VERY busy. There should be more information given to tell people about clinics elsewhere which are nowhere near as busy. I used the St Albans clinic just yesterday and I was given an appointment the same day I asked for it. I believe that information should be given to let people know about Hemel and St Albans, and that you can get there for free with the hospital transfer service. Had I ever known that these clinics existed in the same capacities as Watford (unlike Garston for example, which is far smaller and does not offer many essential services) I would have used other clinics instead of Watford, which were equally accessible for me.
