On Tuesday my daughter in law took my grandson to the walk in centre as he had a cut on his head and was bleeding badly. He is 11 months old and my daughter in law’s first child so she was naturally anxious. She arrived at the centre at 4: 30pm and was told that the centre would be closing soon and she would need to go somewhere else.
My daughter in law was too taken aback to say anything and took her baby to the hospital where they were not seen till much later and discharged at 11: 00pm after the cut had been glued.
I went to the centre the following day and was told that if someone comes in close to the time they shut a nurse is called out to see if they are fit to be sent somewhere else or if they should stay at the centre and be treated there. On this occasion this did not happen, the person on reception was very abrupt, with an injured baby I would have expected more sympathy.
