"Dirty and one nurse just plain arrogant"

About: Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital

Had an operation here 5 days ago. On arrival, 7am, in my room a nurse came in and instantly asked my mum if she was aware of the visiting policy and to leave. I had to tell them I needed my mum there because of my health needs. The nurse then made a big deal of allowing her to stay, like we owed them for this. They were full of themself. Lacking greatly in bedside manner and patient care. I was not made to feel welcome or reassured considering I was having a big operation that day. The room was filthy. Stains on the cushions, carpet filthy (not sure why you'd ever have a carpet where bodily fluids are often spilt on the floor in hospitals). The skirting boards were full of dust and the walls scraped & dirty. I had to keep the room window closed as I was directly above the delivery area and trolleys were banging and lorries driving etc. It was loud. Another nurse popped in briefly and was nice. The surgeon and anaesthetist were lovely too. I'm not sure if they save these grubby rooms for the NHS patients, which is what I was, or wether they're all like this? I've been a private patients in two other private hospitals before and they were faultless so was extremely disappointed with this experience. I'd have definitely rather gone to our local hospital. Sorry but I would not recommend this hospital to family or friends :-(
