My wife delivered a healthy baby boy at Burnley Maternity services (LWNC) on 24th April at 5.15am. This was our first baby so a very exciting but scary time for us. The antenatal care we received was fantastic with all our concerns and questions being answered effectively. One of the midwives could see we were nervous so spent around 30 mins with us talking through what to expect on the big day. At 2am on the 24th April it all started to happen so after a phone call to the unit I took my wife to the hospital where we were greeted by midwives who quickly moved us into a room where pain relief was provided and we were left for the pregnancy to progress with regular checkups. Baby was born at 5.15am and we were discharged the following evening. From the moment we made contact with the maternity unit to the point where we were discharged by the midwives post birth, all staff were friendly and compassionate. My wife was supported with breastfeeding and given all the information she needed. The hospital itself was clean and comfortable. When baby was born we had a slight scare when his heart rate dropped and he was taken away from us, a midwife stayed by our side explaining what was happening, baby was returned 5 minutes later with a big smile on his little face. Mother and baby were monitored throughout the pregnancy on a regular basis and any anomalies were quickly followed up. All in all what a fantastic experience!! Thank you for helping to bring our baby boy into this world, an experience we will never forget for all the right reasons!
