My baby daughter was referred as an outpatient by the GP for a couple of issues that they wanted a second opinion on. We made the appointment through choose & book and although Stepping Hill was the hospital furthest from us, we felt it had the most positive reviews. Although we had to wait 11 weeks from the time of referral to the appointment, our experience once at the hospital was brilliant. The visit started with being greeted by a volunteer who showed us exactly where to go & all staff we encountered were friendly & welcoming. The appointment was at the Treehouse department, we arrived slightly early & were seen immediately. The consultant we saw was wonderfully welcoming, understanding & excellent with our daughter. Although her problems are minor in comparison to others the doctors must see, the consultant was not at all patronising & really took their time with us, listened to our concerns & 100% reassured us. Luckily our daughter was able to be discharged back to the care of the GP but the doctor informed us of how they could be contacted should we have further concerns. Working in the NHS myself (at a different trust) I know the pressures that are put upon many services & how busy clinics, etc can be, but I was extremely pleased with our experience & would not hesitate to recommend the paediatric service at Stepping Hill.
"Fantastic, would not hesitate to recommend"
