"Genuine care! 2nd Patello Femoral Replacement..."

About: St Richard's Hospital

Day started on a bit of a down note as Selsey ward had no beds and I spent a lot of hours waiting to get on the ward and I was worried my op might get cancelled although there was no mention of that happening but I'm not complaining - St Richards can only do what their resources and staff numbers allow and when everything was good to go , I was extremely well looked after by every staff member I came into contact with. The theatre staff were brilliant and did all they could to make this nervous man a little more relaxed- jovial in a professional manner and caring . A fantastic successful op was performed for which I am truly greatful to the surgeon and their superb team. Thank you so much. Ward staff were lovely - all very professional and friendly and were always on hand. I never once felt neglected . Physio team and Occupational Health team were fantastic and have given me clear guidance on that road to recovery. The tea person was a joy , bringing friendly banter to us men as well as great coffee! Food was great , loved it. Porter was great to chat to as they wheeled me to X-Ray . Felt like I'd known them for years! X ray friendly and professional. And finally my discharge went smoothly without any hitch. Selsey ward was run superbly and with genuine care for the patients . I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the staff for their kindness and support. To summerise - I went down for my op at 15.30 on Monday and recovered well enough to go home last night (18.00 ish) . One night on the ward for which it would not have been possible without these wonderful caring people - well done St Richards Hospital and a huge heartfelt thank you to you all! Fantastic!

It was great to read your post on this site with regard to your recent admission to Selsey ward. I really enjoyed reading your 'story' of how things went and your mention of all the various medical, nursing and support staff who all played their part in your treatment. It really does take a team to achieve this type of patient experience and all of those departments that you mention will be delighted that you have appreciated their efforts.
