"Lack of privacy"

About: Solihull Hospital

I was at solihull hospital yesterday to have an X-ray done on a lump in my lung. Due to the fact is had an X-ray done a week ago, there were concerns about how to perform this so after being taken into the room is was sent back out into a mixed waiting room in a gown instead of being taken to the ladies only waiting room, I was left here for 20 minutes whilst the staff discussed my case loudly across the hall meaning that everyone in the waiting room heard about this. After that I was taken into a changing room next to the waiting room for my own 'privacy' to be checked for any marks which could be the lump, again the peson checking me although very polite was speaking very loudly and alerted everyone in the waiting room as to my situation. After this I was sent back to the waiting room where I had to listen to my case being discussed again from across the hall. Eventually an hour after initially being kicked out of the X-ray room I got my X-ray done, I was sent back to the waiting room where I heard them talking about the tissue in my lung they were trying to focus on. Considering I am trying to keep this very secret at the moment I was incredibly frustrated about having people in the waiting room hear this as I had recognised one person from the radiology reception who lives near me and I spent the whole time hoping they couldn't hear. Something needs to be done to inform the staff of how sound travels to the waiting room.

I would very much like to obtain some more information from you to enable me to highlight your experience appropriately to the Superintendent Radiographer at Solihull Hospital and also to Marie Peplow, General Manager for Radiology who I know will be very disappointed to learn of your experience.
