I was admitted to the cardiology department of Blackpool Victoria Hospital on 5th May 2015 at 7am for aortic valve replacement surgery. Went to the operating theatre at 8am and what seems like no time at all was being woken up and sent to intensive care. I had previously been quite concerned about having this surgery especially the anaesthesia but have to say everything went very well with no side effects from the anaesthesia at all. All the staff in intensive care were very professional, caring and helpful. I was then transferred to ward 38, again the staff were professional, caring and helpful. On the 12th of May, only 5 days later I was allowed home. I couldn't believe it, after only 5 days. If anyone reading this is due to have open-heart surgery, you have nothing to worry about. You will be well looked after. Well done to the anaesthetist, the surgeon, the nurses and all the staff in the cardiology department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital
