My mother was brought into A&E with chest pain and facial drooping. After being assessed in CCU she was taken to spend the night in MAU (Medical Assessment Unit). There was absolutely no organisation on this ward. Patient's were left to their own device and it was nearly 3 hours before someone came to take the first set of Obs. In the morning the doctors came round and went through everything however they had missed out on doing fundamental tests and so ordered another set of bloods. When the phlebotomist came and took the blood they were unaware of the new tests and only took enough blood for the previous set. I complained to the junior doctor again and they said that they had forgotten to write the new tests down so they ended up pricking my mother yet again for more blood. By this time my mother was getting more and more anxious and the continuous needle jabbing was becoming distressing. Soon afterwards the person who makes the beds came round and made all the beds on the ward except my mothers. When i asked them politely to make my mother's bed they begrudgingly did so and made us aware that they did not like us. furthermore upon getting the tests results back we had to wait 4 hours before my mother was discharged even though she didn't have any medication, all they had to do was sign the TTA. We left the hospital without any diagnosis and then after consulting with several doctors privately and after further investigation my mother was diagnosed with having had a TIA. I think its an absolute disgrace that such a serious condition was not picked up at earlier at the hospital.
