"Discharge procedures"

About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

Yet again the discharge procedures are a total shambles. My 94 year old mother was ready for discharge today although very frail she was going back to her care home where she would have 24 hour nursing. She is in the stroke ward- in a highly expensive hospital bed but the ambulance failed to turn up to collect her. Why was it requested for after 4pm when it could have been booked hours earlier. Two years ago I was bombarded with calls after a 3 day stay, to have her discharged when she had nowhere to go. The discharge procedure continues to be grossly inefficient and wastes taxpayers money. Don't ever talk to me about bedblockers or how short of money the NHS is when it continues to waste money like this.
