"Parking eye"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

(as other),

I have very poor eyesight and had come out without my glasses. I accidentally put the incorrect registration number in the parking eye machine and couldn't even read it to see it was wrong. I have now been sent a £70 fine. I have appealed against this and still have a copy of my ticket. What should I do if I am forced to pay £70 for a visit to a hospital, when I had clearly paid and not tried to defraud the system, but simply have poor eyesight? Please note that I was far from home and this story is about South Tyneside Hospital

Dear SheM Thank you for taking the time to post on the NHS Choices website your recent experience of our car parking services. What you have described was indeed a simple human error and does happen every now and again. I am assured by Parking Eye that they are able to identify when such errors (as entering the wrong registration number) are made and am confident your appeal will be successful. If, however, you do find your appeal to be unsuccessful, please contact our Customer Services Department at South Tyneside District Hospital, Harton Lane, South Shields, NE34 0PL, and I will ensure this matter is resolved. In the interim period, I wish you good health for the future. Kind regards Lorraine B Lambert Chief Executive
