My daughter was told that she needed an emergency scan as it was thought she had a breech baby it took her 4 days to actually contact the scan department to be told she couldn't have one as there were no staff to perform them all 12 week scans were now being done at 16 weeks and they were not able to get her in. She became upset with the the person on the phone so they said I'll put you at the top of the list. She managed to get in the next day. When she went for the scan she was told baby was the right way round but the placenta was not working. She also has blood in her urine. She was told to wait for a consultant to see her. Later on someone told her there were no consultants too see her they would make an appointment for Friday to see one. We arrived at the appointment to be told she was not on the list. We were not leaving until she was seen and luckily the nursing staff were lovely and got her in. The consultant did a stretch and sweep and told her she needed to go to maternity Wednesday's and Saturdays until baby came for monitoring. Also she would have a stretch and sweep on Wednesday. She arrived at her given appointment today for monitoring then checked Wednesday appointment and guess what no appointment has been made again. Maternity have said they will do her monitoring but a question mark against a stretch and sweep. Now my daughter is so upset she really dose not know what to do she has been told baby is small placenta not working blood in urine she has been told in the space of 3 days she is measuring 33, 35 36 weeks she is not sleeping with worry we don't understand the implications of all the above on top of all of this my concern is depression as she certainly is at times displaying signs of this What is happening to your services. No staff to man your department. No communication between colleagues when she does get to see someone and her being treated just like another number is totally unacceptable. I actually do not blame your hard working nurses as they seem just as surprised that appointment haven't been made but somewhere something is going very wrong with the service you are supposed to be providing and God forbid anything happens to my daughters baby through this lack of care
