"A&E Can not make appointments happen in other..."

About: Derriford Hospital

I presented to A&E with intestinal stabbing pains. Diagnosed as a missed GP issue. Having had serious stomach issues since January thought they might have been slightly more interested. Top dog dismissed me to the same GP that did not push through my referral ever to a Derriford consultant (waited over two months) No further ahead and feel very let down by all of the NHS in totality. I do still feel do not want to down rate the nursing care provided. That was real excellence and a credit to themselves. Did appear to be no real co-ordination between collected Nursing facts and Doctors.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your posting. I am sorry that you feel very let down by all of the NHS in totality. As an Emergency Department we want to deliver the best possible care to every patient. Our nurses do gather information at assessment and this is shared with the doctor however, it is important for the doctor to perform his own assessment and make a clinical decision.

If you would like to discuss your concerns further please contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) Team on 01752 439884 or email plh-tr.PALS@nhs.net

Regards

Tim, ED Matron
