"If it was a football club the manager would be..."

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I have recently had a relative in the Royal. I felt her treatment was awful. Dignity was not respected. I felt that the staff were over stretched and there was pressure to "eject" people from beds that were not ready to go home. I watched a poor old woman who had dirtied herself walk past numerous members of staff. It was only when a member of public pointed her out was any action taken. Trying to call reception was a nightmare. The phone rings and rings. No doubt down to lack of staff. Don't get me wrong, there are some wonderful nurses with real compassion. But as you know it's always the bad points that get reported. The management need to get on the front line!
