"mastectomy and breast reconsruction."

About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

I am amazed, bewildered and angry at the negative comments written about this Hospital. I was diagnosed very recently, with breast cancer, needing an urgent Mastectomy and reconstruction. Once I was referred to The Queen Victoria, my feet didn't touch the floor. Scans were booked, pre-assessment test booked etc, were all done within weeks. From the minute I checked in, on the morning of my operation, until I was discharged a week later, the treatment by all staff was second to none. The treatment, care, support cleanliness etc was 1st class. I wouldn't have got better, had I have paid privately for it all .Ok there were some waiting times etc, but do people not realize that this hospital is not a general hospital. It is recognised throughout the world, for its history, pioneering, expertise, care and support for their patients and their relatives. It is a specialist trauma hospital, and if you are delayed in having an operation for something which is not urgent, it only goes with out saying that the urgent operations for accidents etc take priority. You must be very naïve and thick, not to take this into consideration. A lady in my ward needed an Operation on her hand. She waited 2 ays ....why?... because they used her theatre time to save the limbs of 2 children and I adult. Remember this is a NHS hospital and all treatment is free of charge.
