"Childrens A&E - rather clueless and unsympathetic..."

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

Had to go in over weekend with my 2 year old with very high temperature. A Heel prick test was already carried out by paramedics but told by hospital staff has to be re-done because they use a different system to each other!! Trainee did heel prick 3 times because they kept messing it up. Then kept putting on blood pressure strap agin and again and again even though my toddlers arms were obviously too small for the machine. Constantly calling my daughter by wrong name and then reeling off what happens when tots have sickness and diarrhoea - which my tot didn't have- they were confusing her with a different tot. After almost 4 hours waiting to be seen by doctor. The nurses were reminding them of seeing us before they miss their targets. Doctor turned up 10 mins before they missed target. Sat on bed, huffed and said "what seems to be problem"!! So they couldn't even be bothered to read all the notes!! The doctor was clueless and in the end forced a wooden spatula into tots mouth hurting her and as my little one started to cry the doc said "oh that's the problem-she has a sore throat" This was complete rubbish, her throat was fine and has been ever since. Basically doc didn't know what problem was and just needed to hit target. We were just glad to get out of the place. The department wasn't busy and the staff had lots of time to laugh and joke about so I think is a disgrace we were kept in til almost 3am with such a young child. i was amazed at their ignorance and that of the doctor. Hope I never have to go there again.
