I recently went to see a gastric consultant who arranged blood tests and a CT scan. After these were carried out I had a follow up appointment on the 20th May to discuss the findings. The results were that there was no fluid on my stomach but the consultant said that there is probably a problem with the heart not pumping properly which is causing my ankles to swell and the shortness of breath. I also have symptoms of dizziness and pains in my legs when I have walked about 600 yards. The consultant said they would refer me to a heart failure specialist, the consultant said they would write the letter and send the report to them with a copy of the same to me so that I could then telephone for the appointment once I knew the heart specialists name. As I didn't hear anything by the 28th May I telephoned to find out why I hadn't received the letter and report I was told that both my consultant and their secretary were on annual leave until after the 8th June. I really am very angry about the fact that it wasn't sorted before they finished for holidays and that they never mentioned the fact that they wouldn't be available. A number of messages have been left on the secretaries answer machine but as yet I have not received a reply. Today 9th June I have telephoned again to find the answer machine on stating they are not available, so again I have left a message to return my call. I am really angry that I chose to pay for my care privately only to be treated the way I have. I don't have insurance so this out of my own pocket. My wife has just had to buy a wheelchair for me so we could go on a day out because I wouldn't be able walk around all day without encountering problems. I don't know where to go from here to get it sorted. Any suggestions ?
