(as a service user),

I moved to sheltered housing 10 years ago after a big operation. I believe it’s been good for me but it’s not a happy place, you don’t hear people laughing. Some people are attended to a lot by the staff and others are not. I stay on my own a lot.

When I first moved to Wilson Bruce there were lots of us who liked to go out but that number has got smaller and smaller over time. It used to be very sociable

There is a group meeting with residents every 2 weeks but not everyone will speak in front of the crowd. It would be better if we were spoken to individually.

Some people who lived in Wilson Bruce have moved to Mossview and you should see the change in them. There is a lot more activity there, people laugh and staff are more active and get everyone involved. What a difference it makes when people are happy!

I would like to move if I got the chance but no one has come to discuss this option.

Thank you for your comments, I have spoken to my colleagues in the Housing Services and this is their reply.

"Thanks very much for sending us your views on Wilson Bruce Court. We like to hear what our service users think and we listen to all comments. I am sorry you feel Wilson Bruce is not meeting your needs – we have big plans to improve the building and also to look at how we help our service users to be involved in social activities. Over the next few months we will be involved in discussions around this – so we will try to speak to everyone about how they would like to see Very Sheltered Housing change. Thanks for giving us your views.”

I hope this gives you some comfort that change is on the way and I hope you will be able to comment in a way that is helpful for everyone.
