My partner was referred to the Cardiology department in Blackpool at the beginning of the year due to him being quite young, having a high family history of heart problems and also was suffering from repeated Chest Pain.
After seeing the consultant he was recommended to start on various medications and was going to be referred for further tests. He was advised that a letter would be sent to the GP with the meds listed and that the GP would prescribe the medication.
Well this took in the region of 3 -4 weeks to keep chasing and when the letter eventually arrived at the GP there were no medications listed. Eventually we finally got my partner started on the correct meds. Eventually he received appointments for his investigations but has never had a further appointment through to go through the results.
He made an appointment to see his GP who then advised that they had a hospital letter saying that there was nothing wrong with his heart and to stop all medication. (My partner has high cholesterol and very high blood pressure) After raising concerns about coming off the statin and BP meds the GP reluctantly agreed for him to continue on the meds.
This issue is there has been no follow up appointment from the Cardiology department about next steps and the GP doesnt seem to be bothered about getting to the bottom of the issue that is still causing my partner to have increasing boughts of chest pain. Not really the best experience of a service to have.
"No follow up appointment"
