I went to my appointment with a lot of positive hope from my GP as to the options available to me for my hip problem. I found the staff in all areas including x-ray and reception extremely helpful and sympathetic. However the waiting time was 2 hours after my appointed time which didn't bode well. Several people in the waiting room were voicing their annoyance. I was seen by an extremely caring, understanding and patient Registrar. However shortly into the discussions the consultant came into the room and in my opinion undermined the Registrar's whole behaviour. I was offered halfheartedly an injection which the consultant said had only 50% success rate. This would be given under anaesthetic, or buy a stick and take painkillers. I was dumbstruck. I was given to believe before I went that there would be some positive options. The consultant offered nothing else except to come back in 6 months if I was still in pain. I shall seek a second opinion.
