What I liked
My father was a patient on the Stroke Ward at Hillingdon Hospital and I am writing to thank all the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff for the truly excellent care they gave my father during the time he was their patient. At 95 he had become quite frail with poor eyesight and hearing loss.
He was treated as an individual person, as a man connected to his family and not as a condition or a set of problems.
I find it hard to express my gratitude for the loving attention and care which the staff and nursing team gave my father and for the immense support they extended to us, his family.
What could be improved
These boxes invite us to be picky. I can think of nothing worth weighing against the overall excellent care my father received.
Anything else?
My father died after 12 days as an in-patient. Despite every effort he simply could not recover and six weeks after his 95th birthday, passed away.
Even now, my loss feels raw, but I am buoyed up by remembering how well the staff cared for him and that my family and I were able to stay with him throughout his final days and hours.
I will always be grateful for the excellent medical and nursing care he received and hope that my own ending can be as dignified and as beautifully supported.
