What I liked
I was involved in an RTA on the M25, my car was hit by a foreign HGV and I reached the Hospital via ambulance. From moment one I was treated with respect, dignity and care, my husband accompanied me and was treated equally well, the nursing staff ensured that we both knew what was happening at each stage of diagnosis and treatment.
I was immobilised for nearly 18 hours whilst the medical teams checked for fractures in my neck and back. Luckily after a CT scan and numerous x-rays they were able to ascertain that the injuries were limited to soft tissue. I appreciate the caution shown in assessing my injuries and the precautionary measured taken by staff.
The experience would have been much worse were it not for the care and kindness of the nursing staff in the Emergency Assessment Unit, they were first rate and treated me like an individual, and made me as comfortable as they could.
I am lucky to have been discharged after 24 hours, but cannot thank the teams at the hospital enough.
What could be improved
The ward itself looked in need of refurbishment, but was clean and staff took care to clean their hands in front of me prior to each examination.
Anything else?
If you're ever going to need Emergency Care, this is a great place to be taken, the staff were calm and proved very capable. The hospital is busy, serving both community and Heathrow airport but I saw nothing but first rate service, even to more challenging patients in the A and E.
