"Disgusted with treatment of my child! Never again"

About: Leighton Hospital

My daughter who was 7 at the time was admitted with lower right abdo pain to ward 17. On call said it was her appendix and ran inflammation tests which came back normal and then kept her in for 3 days saying she would have an abdo scan. On the last day we were there they came and did more bloods, 2 hours later a nurse can to us and said 'you're clear you're discharged' at this point I said to look at my daughter (she couldn't walk or stand up straight) they said well tests are clear, the doctor said go home that was it! After another 16hours at home with her crying and not being able to move we rushed her through to Warrington a&e and again bloods done and clear, they did the scan that the doctor had promised and was clear, they opened her up as a precaution as they were concerned about how she was and low and behold it was her appendix! She was one of the few who it doesn't show in bloods, rare but it does happen! I was made to think she was putting it on! Dread to think what could of happened if I didn't trust my daughter and my mothers instinct! .. I'm under Leighton for my health problems but thankfully not under this doctor's team! My children always go to Warrington now, we can't get a gp referral to it even though it's closer so we have to go via a&e each time and it puts Leighton to shame with children! This doctor needs to realise not every patient falls within the text book they learnt off! Also the nurse on discharge was shocking, wouldn't let us use a wheelchair, watched me carry my 7 year old out with 3 days worth of bags and commented 'well she should be able to walk sorry' she couldn't stand let alone walk from the ward to the car! Funnily enough we had a nurse greet us with a wheelchair at Warrington and walked us out with one!
