"Waiting for appointment for treatment"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I have been waiting 3 1/2 mths for appointment for treatment, I have rung twice to get a date, both times have been told long wait, gone from 3/4mths to 5mths. This will take me past the 18weeks target for non-urgent treatment. I still can't get a date so can't book a holiday, my husband can't book his holiday leave. This treatment is 3x per week over a 4 week period so it is a big committment over the school holidays as I work in schools. Also I have been suffering with a massive eczema attack over about 70% of my body so is not really non-urgent!

We are sorry that you have had to wait for your dermatology appointment as well as the delay in posting this. We think the treatment you are referring to is phototherapy which is a specialised treatment which is nurse led. The demand for this service is currently outweighing the capacity and the team are looking at ways we can increase this capacity. Unfortunately we also have a vacant nurse post which we are in the process to recruiting to but there is a period of time before this person can deliver phototherapy as it takes several months to train someone to be competent in doing this. If you have not been seen meanwhile would you please contact us as it sounds as if your condition has been deteriorating. Please call Holly Swinton or Jacqui Williams on 01204 390 033 or on 01204 390466
