"Childrens centres are for everyone"

I started coming to sure start centres when my little boy was nearly 3. I didn't realise that anyone could use the centre and thought that had to be on benefits or told to go by social services or something.

I was walking past one day with my friend and she said did I fancy coming with her one day. After she explained that anyone can use the centre, we made plans to go the following day, which was Tuesday and messy play. I really didn't know what to expect but was willing to give it a go.

Me, my friend and our children attended a group. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The rooms were all payed out very well with lots to do to keep the children busy. During the visit the children had snack which was nice - toast and fruit, after that day I was hooked and went every week on Monday and Tuesday.

Whilst attending these groups I met new people and my little boy played in a safe environment with lots of variety from week to week. I also found out about adult learning courses and signed up to do some - English, early years, teaching assistant, first aid, to name but a few. I also now volunteer for sure start!

I am very passionate about the centres and could rabble on for ages, but think that is enough for now.
