"knee replacement op 2014"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

I came into hospital for knee replacement in 2014 after first op 2 months earlier had been cancelled as I was going down to theatre!! I agree with other comments re staff during the night leaving doors open and the noise they made talking, laughing and messing about was horrendous so myself and other patients couldn't sleep. Again blood pressure being taken every hour during the night (yes it can be done but the noise. ) apart from one night when the sister in charge asked if we wanted waking up during the night, we obviously said no so they said ok I shall put on my notes none of you want waking up and I shall leave you all without checking. Unbelievable.. ... All the time I was in which was 6 days I had no physiotherapy at all albeit I asked every day as I had had a knee replacement before and knew what was supposed to happen, the machine they put your leg and knee on that's like a bike I asked every day for and never got it once, hence I tried to control pain by doing what I had been advised to do on my first op but some of the older elderly ladies just sat there every day and had no physio. What is the point of that as your knee can and could seize up if not flexed and the operation could then be a waste of time I would add the first op was a raging success , pain relief and staff excellent, they couldnt do enough for you.....second op I have had problems with my knee which I put down to no proper physio and staff just not on the ball in there at Lancaster anymore . Consultant brilliant
