I was in hospital for a mastectomy reconstruction ward G5 and the Jasmine Clinic, due to breast cancer. There was a long wait to be seen. But never less than 45mins.
I felt that the results following operations/diagnosis etc took too long and left me feeling on edge, I have work to think about.
I saw Dr Freebrown then went onto surgery, it took 1 and half weeks from GP to Surgery.
Then went onto the Jasmine Clinic for tests, the staff were very good here, but the cleanliness was "grubby". There was a cup of coffee on a window ledge the first time I went, and it was still there the following week. Staff were lovely though.
In terms of surgery, whilst I was waiting on the ward I wanted to watch Sheffield Wednesday on the TV, but it was broken and they couldn't get it repaired. I was very pleased with the surgery, this was the best bit of my experience. Mr Prasad was very good and his registrar was lovely. Also the night staff whilst I was on the ward were very good.
I went to the hospice, not sure why. To see the councilor. Maybe I should have been more devastated than usual. Because I was a recovering cancer patient there were tissues in the councilors room, I was almost "obliged to fall apart". The Hospice provided support groups, but I had nothing in common with the people, despite having the same disease. Not everyone wants to go down that root with the hospice of "crying and weeping". There seems to be a "wallowing culture" sometimes.
